Buddhist Temple "Hay Hie"
Ningbo, Zhejiang, China
The idea of the design for the temple is a person's connection with the inner nature of existence, connection with the inner light of life. The architecture reflects human nature - with an outer shell and inner space and an inexpressible sense of inner peace, light, and harmony.
The fundamental principles laid down in the project of the temple complex are the majestic simplicity of forms, harmony, practicality, innovation, economy, and durability. The form of the temple is expressed through a combination of traditions of Buddhism, new architectural aesthetics, and modern interactive technologies.

General Information:
The project provides for the reconstruction of a women's monastery with the construction of new buildings, reconstruction and dismantling of a number of buildings. The project also provides for the improvement of the territory.
Architectural Design Description:
The building of the temple is two inner and outer temples. The outer temple is a cube-shaped shell - the symbol of a person who stands on the ground. Dimensions 54,2х54,2х54,2 m. The side surfaces of the cube have a bend outward, which gives the temple a special form, stability, special sounding inside and outside the temple, and also arranging more convenient entrance from different points.
In the center of the main temple, there is a statue of Guang Yin (Buddha of Mercy) with ten thousand hands in a sitting position. The Buddha statue is under the inner bell-shaped shell.
an Atmosphere, Light, Sound:
In the inner space of the temple - the light is soft, scattered, a feeling of calm and relaxation is created.
The main light is designed in such a way that it comes from all sides, creating a voluminous light, also from above and illuminates the Buddha - the main compositional accent - forming a glow around the Buddha.
Because of the special form, the sound inside the temple will be special. According to our preliminary calculations, sound can be produced from silence by the type of seashell. This will give a special unique sounding to the temple!
This approach gives the temple a unique aura while also filling the interior with a range of visual, light, and acoustic effects.
Composition Description:
The ensemble of the temple complex was solved in the Jiangnan park style with modern architectural concepts.
The main temples and auxiliary buildings are harmoniously interconnected. This is achieved through the use of classical compositional techniques and proportions in combination with dynamic forms, landscaping, decoration materials, and lighting design.
The total design volume is divided into three temples, which are located along the axis "South" - "North". The entrance to the monastery is from the south.
